Colt's Competition Series 70 is the company's dedicated target and competition 1911, and it comes from the factory that has been building the pattern since 1911. The Series 70 designation matters to serious 1911 shooters: it omits the firing pin safety plunger found in Series 80 guns, which yields a cleaner, more predictable trigger. In 9mm with a stainless 5-inch National Match barrel, this is a soft-shooting, extremely accurate pistol that is inexpensive to feed for high-volume practice and USPSA or steel matches.

An undercut trigger guard, upgraded sights, and a full-size steel frame make it very manageable in rapid fire.
