The Traditions PA Pellet Ultralight is a genuine flintlock, which matters because a growing number of states set aside special seasons open only to traditional ignition muzzleloaders. This .50 caliber rifle carries a 26-inch barrel with iron sights, a black finish and Mossy Oak camo on the stock, and the Ultralight designation is not marketing. It carries far more easily than most blackpowder rifles, which counts for a lot during a late primitive-weapons season. Flintlock ignition asks more of the shooter than an inline, and hunters who prefer that challenge tend to be devoted to it.
