The Axis is Savage's no-nonsense hunting rifle, stripped of ornamentation but retaining the things that make a rifle shoot: a properly headspaced barrel, a rigid action and the user-adjustable AccuTrigger. This is the left-hand XP package version, chambered in .308 Winchester with a 22-inch barrel and a synthetic stock.

Left-handed hunters are chronically underserved by the industry, and getting a true LH action rather than a compromise is worth a great deal at the moment of truth. The XP designation means it comes as a scoped package. In .308 it covers deer, hogs, black bear and elk at reasonable ranges.
