This Savage Axis XP compact left-hand package chambers the 400 Legend, giving smaller-framed southpaw hunters in straight-wall states a hard-hitting, fully-equipped option. The shortened stock dimensions fit young and smaller shooters properly — a detail that matters enormously for building good habits — while the factory-mounted scope arrives bore-sighted. The 400 Legend hits well above its modest recoil, cleanly taking whitetail inside typical woods distances. An affordable, thoughtfully-configured rifle for hunters the industry too often overlooks.
