The LWRC SIX8-A5 is one of the few rifles built around 6.8 SPC from the ground up rather than adapted to it, with a bolt, barrel extension and magazine geometry designed for the cartridge rather than borrowed from 5.56. That matters, because most 6.8 reliability complaints trace back to compromised magazines. Add LWRC's short-stroke gas piston operating system, which keeps fouling and heat out of the receiver, and a 16-inch cold hammer forged barrel, and you get a carbine that hits considerably harder than a 5.56 at hunting and defensive distances.
