Winchester's XPR is the modern working-hunter bolt action from a company with a very long memory — a nickel Teflon-coated bolt, a two-position thumb safety with bolt unlock, the M.O.A. adjustable trigger system and a free-floating button-rifled barrel, all in a package meant to be used rather than admired. This one wears a True Timber Strata camo stock, an FDE Perma-Cote finish and a factory muzzle brake, chambered in 7mm-08 Remington with a 22-inch barrel. The 7mm-08 is a quietly excellent deer and antelope round: efficient, accurate and noticeably softer shooting than the magnums.
