Thompson/Center's Encore ProHunter is the heavy-duty version of the company's long-running break-action platform, and its defining feature is versatility: the same frame accepts interchangeable barrels across muzzleloading, rifle, and shotgun configurations. The ProHunter frame is beefed up over the standard Encore to handle stout loads.

This ProHunter XT is set up as a .50 caliber muzzleloader with a 28-inch barrel and Mossy Oak Bottomland finish, using the FireStick ignition system. FireStick loads a pre-measured charge from the breech rather than down the bore, which makes loading faster, more consistent shot to shot, and considerably easier to clean up afterward.
