This is a factory replacement magazine for the Savage 212 bolt-action slug gun, in a blued finish. The 212 is a dedicated 12-gauge slug rifle built on Savage's centerfire bolt action, and its detachable box magazine is part of what separates it from a converted shotgun — it feeds saboted slugs cleanly and consistently rather than fighting a tube meant for shot shells. Because it's a low-capacity dedicated magazine, spares are worth having: they let you carry a second set of loads without breaking the rifle down in the stand.

Correct fitment matters with slug-gun magazines, and this is the factory part rather than an aftermarket approximation.
