These factory Ruger moon clips are for the Super Redhawk chambered in 10mm Auto, and they are not optional equipment on that revolver. Because 10mm is a rimless cartridge designed for semi-automatic extraction, the revolver relies on the clip to hold the rounds by their extractor grooves for headspacing and, more importantly, for extraction, since an ejector star has nothing to push against without them. The side benefit is genuinely fast reloads, since a full clip of six drops in as one unit. Three clips per pack, six-round capacity each. Keeping several loaded is standard practice.
