Riton's 3 Tactix is a low-power variable optic in the configuration that has become the default for modern carbines: 1-8x24 on a 30mm tube. At 1x it works like a red dot for close, fast, both-eyes-open shooting; run it up to 8x and you can identify and hit targets well past what iron sights allow. That range covers nearly everything a general-purpose rifle is asked to do.
