This adapter lets you fit standard OEM-style recoil pads to Magpul's Hunter and SGA stock lines, which is useful if you have a pad you already like or need a specific thickness to tune length of pull. It bridges the mounting geometry between the Magpul stock body and conventional butt pads, keeping the fit tight and rattle-free.
