Magpul's XT Rail Panels cover exposed Picatinny sections on a handguard, which does two useful things at once: it keeps sharp rail edges from chewing up your support hand, and its textured surface actually improves grip, especially with wet or gloved hands. They snap on without tools and can be trimmed to length to fit around lights, lasers, and hand stops. This is the aggressive XT texture version in black. On a rifle you shoot a lot, panels are one of those inexpensive additions that you stop noticing until you pick up a rifle without them.
