The Mossberg Patriot in .308 Winchester with an 18 inch threaded barrel is quietly one of the smartest configurations in the affordable bolt-gun world. The short barrel gives up little practical velocity in .308 while making the rifle noticeably handier in a blind or truck — and the threaded muzzle means it was born to wear a suppressor. Mossberg's fluted bolt runs smoothly, the LBA trigger adjusts to your preference, and the blued-and-synthetic build takes weather in stride. It is a working hunter's rifle at a working hunter's price.
