The CANIK Obsidian Prism is a prismatic sight offering a 2 MOA aiming dot within a 70 MOA circle, the circle-dot arrangement that has become popular for exactly the reason you would expect: the large circle draws the eye and drives fast target acquisition up close, while the fine center dot supports precise shots at distance.

Prism optics differ from reflex sights in an important way, using an etched reticle and a focusing lens, which means the reticle remains usable even if the illumination fails and astigmatic shooters typically see a much cleaner aiming point than they do through a red dot. It is a practical choice for a carbine used across mixed distances.
